Thomas More: A Saint For Our Times

June 22, 2018June 22, 2018 Michael & Alyssa Grasinski

St. Thomas More is indeed a saint for our times and a man for all seasons. Thomas More is a man for all seasons because he represents that which is universal in scope and application: Truth. Truth is the very foundation on which we stand. The world around us is imbued with truth. Our existence… Continue reading Thomas More: A Saint For Our Times

How St. JPII Inspired Me to Pray Through Sacred Art

June 14, 2018 Michael & Alyssa Grasinski

Until recently, I would tell people “I want to be an artist,” or even worse “I used to want to be an artist and go to art school.” It’s true—I have spent my whole life being drawn to the arts, drawn to beauty, to creating, to being a part of making something that moves people.… Continue reading How St. JPII Inspired Me to Pray Through Sacred Art

The Mass Intention Card That Dropped Out of Thin Air

June 7, 2018June 7, 2018 Michael & Alyssa Grasinski

The following is a story which is hard to believe. If someone thought I was crazy, I wouldn't blame them. But I can attest before God that the following happened in 2008. I touched on the story a little bit in a prior post (see St. Gemma post) regarding my dad's unexpected passing in 2008.… Continue reading The Mass Intention Card That Dropped Out of Thin Air

Hey everyone! It’s Friday intro time, so here we go. A few things about me: . ♥️ I am aspiring to sainthood with my husband Michael- he reminds me of that everyday. . 🧡 We have a daughter Gemma, aka baby muffin or Gemma bean. . 💛 I have a dream of opening a coffee shop where people could come and do art and talk about faith and learn new things. I like to explore all art forms, I currently have a whole bin of projects that I’m working on. But embroidery is what I am drawn to and looking to master right now. . 💚 I’m on the lookout for a Catholic vestment to embroider or fix up, so if you have any leads on where to find used vestments (or how to make them from scratch), let me know! . 💙 My favorite drink is hot apple cider (pictured), but hot grapefruit juice is a close second. What is your weird fav food/drink?
A friend recently asked me what I do when there is more stress than peace. The answer is so simple: the rosary and adoration! . Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of the womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. . Pictured is a close up of a little tapestry I made!
“Because all the forms of our love for the Blessed Virgin and all its various modes of expression cannot be equally pleasing to Her, and therefore do not assist us in the same degree to reach Heaven, I say, without a moment’s hesitation, that the brown scapular is the most favored of all! . . . No devotion has been confirmed by more numerous authentic miracles than the Brown Scapular.” -Saint Claude de la Colombiere My custom, handmade brown scapulars are restocked in the shop! Made with quality, ethically sourced materials, and prayer. Link in bio. ♥️🙏🏻
Isn’t it amazing how God manifests His will in our lives? So often in an unexpected way, or even in a way we were resisting? . Just a year ago, I was actively pursuing various different art forms and endeavors and I didn’t understand why it wasn’t taking off and thriving. Then, I opened an Etsy shop and listed all the things I wanted to create. And as a last minute upload, listed some pictures of a brown scapular I made for a friend. I was convinced that no one would want to buy something that I hand embroidered- and this isn’t false humility here, I genuinely didn’t think there would be any interest. Quickly, my handmade brown scapulars became my bestseller! I found so much joy in making them and through my labors, I have grown in love for Christ and for others. This art form has become a great source of prayer and peace for me and I can’t wait to see where God takes it! Also, I’ll be making an exciting announcement soon. 👏🏼👏🏼 . So, I’m curious, how has God’s will surprised you in your life?
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” -Proverbs 22:6 . My biggest fear as a mother is that Gemma will leave the faith when she is older. At her baptism, Michael and I accepted a huge responsibility: to raise her up in the church. To raise her to know, love, and serve God. It seems like a difficult task, although Proverbs 22:6 puts it so simply. I can’t wait to teach her about how much Jesus loves her and celebrate all the feast days. And when she is older, she won’t leave. She won’t depart from the way she should go. For now, I’m swaddling her up in this beautiful blanket from @livingscripturestrong and praying for her holiness!
“This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” //John 15:12-13 . St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us!!
